As Jesus laid nailed to the Cross, he was surrounded by two criminals. One of the criminals recognizing who he was, requested that he join Jesus in Heaven. The other criminal mocked Jesus. Because of the criminal’s humility and acknowledgment of Jesus deity, Jesus granted his request. The text I believe is a reminder to us that we are never late to receive God’s forgiveness. God is waiting for us to respond. If you think you must wait to have it all together, then you are confused about what God can do through forgiveness’. I thank God that he allowed me late in age to experience his forgiveness and mercy.
