What is gratitude; true gratitude? Ask a homeless person how grateful they are when they can enjoy a hot meal. Ask a mom and child who narrowly miss a serious car accident. Gratitude speaks to perspective.

Ask Anthony Ray Hinton. Mr. Hinton, an activist, was wrongly convicted of a murder he did not commit. As a result, he spent 30 years in prison. When the Supreme Court decision ordered Mr. Hinton’s release, he was quoted as saying, “One does not know the value of freedom until it is taken away, People run out of the rain. I run into the rain…I am so grateful for every drop. Just to feel it on my face.” That perspective speaks to his sense of appreciation.

Paul, in his letter to the church in Corinth, wrote, “Therefore, in order to keep me from becoming conceited, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” ~2 Corinthians‬ ‭12‬:‭7‬8-10‬ ‭NIV‬‬

In times of trouble and hardship, we must Focus on Jesus. God is Good; our comfort and strength. In all situations, know He loves you. That’s why we can give Him all the thanks! Praise God!

Peace & Blessings!
