Waiting; on the Lord

01-21-2026 - John Scott | Isaiah 30:18

What do Christmas and slow traffic have in common? Okay, I know it seems like a strange question. The answer ~ waiting! In its simplest form, it refers to the idea being still; physically or emotionally. Waiting can be exciting. Anticipating holiday celebrations like Christmas or Thanksgiving, starting a new job or the expectation of a new baby. Waiting can also be challenging like that rush hour traffic, sitting at home for the cable guy or in that long line in a store. The key ~ patience!

One of the great stories of waiting is in the lives of Abraham and Sarah. “When God made his promise to Abraham, since there was no one greater for him to swear by, he swore by himself, saying, “I will surely bless you and give you many descendants.” And so after waiting patiently, Abraham received what was promised.” ~Hebrews‬ ‭6‬:‭13‬-‭15‬ ‭NIV‬‬

God promised them, despite their ages, that they would have an heir and Abraham would be the father of the nation of Israel. “He took him outside and said, “Look up at the sky and count the stars—if indeed you can count them.” Then he said to him, “So shall your offspring be.”” ~Genesis‬ ‭15‬:‭5‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Let us Focus on Jesus; where we can embrace a season of waiting with faithfulness. God always has a plan for our lives; greater than we could ever imagine for ourselves. When we live for Him and seek to serve His purpose, we can trust that our reward will bring all honor and glory to the Father!

Peace & Blessings!
